Glenn Hoddle is recovering well from surgery he had to undergo following a heart attack.

Hoddle, the England and Tottenham legend, collapsed on his 61st birthday last month at BT Sport’s London studios, being taken to hospital and admitted to intensive care.

He had an operation, believed to be a heart bypass, last week, and is said to be rapidly recovering.

According to The Sun, Hoddle has been texting friends from hospital, and should be able to return to television work when fully recovered.

Hoddle had to go through a prior surgery to add three stents to widen his arteries, but a heart bypass was decided as the way forward to boost blood flow to his heart.

Former England midfielder and manager Hoddle appeared lively on Saturday Morning Savage on October 27, receiving a cake to celebrate his 61st birthday and playing a game of ‘Teqball’ – a football/table tennis game – with host and ex-footballer Robbie Savage.

However, he collapsed in the studio between appearing on Saturday Morning Savage and his later scheduled appearance on BT Sport Score, and had to be taken to hospital.

A couple of days after the incident, Harry Redknapp told talkSPORT that Hoddle appeared in ‘fantastic’ shape before his shock collapse.
