Tottenham and England legend Glenn Hoddle shocked judges from The Masked Singer after it was revealed he was on the ITV show on Saturday.
Hoddle, who also used to play for Chelsea, was revealed to be the Grandfather Clock after being chosen to give his identity following a sing-off with ’80s popstar Viking.
During the sing-off, Hoddle chose to perform Barry Manilow’s Can’t Smile Without You which is an anthem for Spurs fans.
All members of the judging panel guessed footballers when trying to find out Hoddle‘s identity but none of them got it right.
Mo Gilligan guessed Lee Dixon, Rita Ora suggested Ian Wright, Davina McCall picked David Seaman while Jonathan Ross thought it was England’s record appearance holder Peter Shilton.
Hoddle quipped after his identity was revealed: “They were so close I thought any time now they’re going to nail it, but you didn’t clock me!”
This isn’t the first time Hoddle has taken to singing having previously released the single Diamond Lights with Chris Waddle back in 1987.
He later revealed on the show how then-prime minister Tony Blair had compared his job with that of the England manager’s post prior to the 1998 World Cup.
Hoddle on his meeting with Blair added: “He said something, before the World Cup he said I had a bigger job than he did!”
