Glenn Hoddle believes winning Euro 2020 with England could make Harry Kane want to leave Tottenham even more.

The Three Lions welcome Denmark to Wembley on Wednesday night, hoping to book their place in a first major tournament final since 1966.

Gareth Southgate’s men enter the last four as favourites and will return to Wembley to face Italy on Sunday, should they beat the Danes.

Despite his slow start, England captain Kane now has three goals in his last two games following a brace in the 4-0 victory over Ukraine.

It reminded everyone why Man City are reportedly willing to spend £150million on the Spurs striker – and perhaps the tournament will remind Kane why he wants to leave.

The 27-year-old is understood to have told Tottenham he wants out this summer following 12 years at the club without a trophy to show for it.

Former Spurs and England boss Hoddle believes a major success with his country will only reinforce that desire in Kane’s mind.

Hoddle, speaking at a Betfair event, told talkSPORT: “He wants to be as successful as he can be. If they do that, Harry will be holding up that trophy.

“That will give him a bit of a taste and he’ll think, ‘I need this and I want this a bit more’.

“It might go against Tottenham in many ways and it might be what he wants to do if he goes to Man City.”

Meanwhile, the ex-England midfielder believes Kane and co. will never have a better chance to win something as big as the Euros.

Hoddle added: “They know deep in their heart, they’ll never get an opportunity [like this].

“No disrespect to Denmark, they’re a very good side.

“But if someone said, ‘You’re going to play Denmark at Wembley in the semi-finals, then you’re going to be at Wembley in the final’ – you’ll never get a tournament like that again.

“This is our moment.”
