LISTEN: Peter Taylor on why FA should give Glenn Hoddle another chance as England boss

Peter Taylor has called on the Football Association to make Glenn Hoddle the next England manager.

The FA are searching for a boss after Roy Hodgson’s resignation following the Three Lions’ woeful showing at Euro 2016.

Taylor was in charge of England Under-21s when Hoddle was manager of the senior side between 1996-99.

Hoddle was sacked after making controversial comments about disabled people but his spell is fondly remembered by many.

Taylor now believes the time has come to give the 58-year-old another crack at the job.

In an exclusive interview with talkSPORT, he said: “When I worked under Glenn and saw him work with the FA, to me, three years later he was a better manager than when he first went there.

“He was a very, very good manager. All of a sudden they made a change and it wasn’t for things that happened on the pitch. For that reason, he should be given another chance.

“You listen to him now, whether it is on the radio or a TV programme, and he is just so knowledgeable. He understands the game 100 per cent.”
